Cancer update / Cyber Knife?
On Friday morning I had an appointment with the Cancer Doc and his news wasn't the best. My blood test results showed my Bilirubin was high and Tumor markers were off the chart. I have had two Doctors say they have never seen tumor markers this high. Normal range is 0-35, my number is 687,333. I really don't know what that means but it sounds really nasty. He has suspended my chemotherapy for now believing I'm not responding to the treatment. Today, Monday, I had an appointment with a Doctor regarding a Cyber Knife. This is focused radiation where they place "Gold Seeds" on the edges of the tumor and the Cyber Knife will track it and localize the radiation just to that spot within the Seeds. Prior to this, the Doctor wanted an additional PET scan to see what the progression of the cancer was before he made a final decision on the knife. I'm scheduled for the scan on Wednesday. With any luck I'll start that process soon.

My prayers are with you and your family! I just found out what has been going on in your life when I made a visit with my girls to the Murray City Attorneys' Office. Sorry I missed your casino night (but I didn't know about it)...hang tough! I know you cops are always the tough guys! Keep the blog going...then we can keep checking back!
That sounds like it could be promising. I wish they would move this thing along a little quicker but unfortunatly you're on hospital stardard time...which isnt always....is NEVER quick!!
Rick, my wife really wanted to tell you about a KSL story that she saw. She tried to e-mail it to you at your AOL account. The blog is great, keep us updated.

I saw that story on KSL about the aggresive cancer treatments they have in Mexico. Why not fly down there and check that out..........We would be happy to come stay with the kids while you were gone. Jan would probably love to come help too.......it's just a thought.
