Goodbye, We Love You

Rick DuKatz passed away in his sleep early this morning, Thursday, December 18th 2008.
He was 46 years old, much, much too young.

We will miss your sweet smile, your quick wit and all your invaluable advice.

May peace and love be with you My Darling.

Dear Bev and Family,

We can take some small comfort in knowing that God was merciful and Rick's suffering was not prolonged. We grieve deeply because we will miss him terribly but I know in my heart that he is now in heaven anxiously awaiting the day when he will be reunited with his loved ones. The prayers of our family and friends are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had only met Rick in passing, but I heard AMAZING things from Amanda. He is strong and driven. He is now resting and in peace and one day you will all be together again.

With Love,

Melissa

Dear Bev & family,
I am a friend of Jenefer Reudter & she shared Rick's story with me.My husband is always battling pancreatic cancer. It touched my heart to hear what a good man he was and the short valiant battle he lead in his fight against cancer. My family will keep you in our prayers and hope that the love he had for you in this life will keep you comforted until you see him again. May Heavenly Father comfort you in your sorrow as well.

I don't know you at all, but I just lost my Dad last year after fighting leukemia for 10 years and he was 60, which still is young. I know what the kids are going through and my Mom has missed my Dad very much, but feels peace about him not suffering anymore. It is not easy to lose a loved one, they are especially missed around the holidays, but I'm glad that they will not be suffering anymore. I just wanted to say that your story touched me and I hope that you will be blessed with comfort and a feeling of peace at this time.

Bev,

I am so sorry about Rick. I just got home this afternoon from a funeral in Texas and opened your Christmas card. I was on the phone with my sister telling her how well Rick was aging (hot)! I went to the blog to email you and let you that I wasn't going to be able to send out cards this year only to read of Ricks passing. I read it over and over and over. I didn't believe it! I remember the first night we (you) met Rick on State Street. I can't remember if it was the time when a fight at Arctic Circle broke out, or if was the time we had open containers and my parents had to come down and pick me up? We were so young! I think of you often. I pray your pain will be eased through this process. Love, Julie (Matheson) Cartwright

Julie,

It WAS the fight at Arctic Circle, and it has been the topic of much discussion around here. I love you much and hope to see you soon My Dear Friend...
p.s. don't tell my kids about the open container incident...they may get the wrong idea about their perfect parents :)
xoxo

p.p.s
THANK YOU ALL for your loving and thoughtful support...
Love and Peace to YOU ALL!!!

Bev, Cindy and I want you to know that you have been in the forefront of our thougts since his diagnosis. We both love you and Rick very much.
I am taking comfort from the fact that I feel so lucky to have known Rick and to have been his friend for the last 18 years.
Peace be with you and your family and we will see you soon.

Bev,
For now your secret about the open containers won't be shared with the kids. As far as the fight at AC, do they know who was involved in that? I'll keep that secret too! It scares me to be able to say that we have been friends for more than 25 years! That means we are old, but still hot!

Please know that my heart is aching for you and your family and my nights are sleepless. However, I do know how tough you are, I saw the fight and I know who won!
I love you and will see you soon!

P.S. If you happen to be gathering photos and they are from the wedding, make sure I look skinny!

Your OFF (Old Fat Friend) Julie
